Abstract

|
The main pathogenic factors of acne are increase of sebum, cornification, proliferation of Propionibacterium acnes and inflammation. Increase of sebum is characteristic feature of adolescent and it is regarded as the essential factor of acne. Sebum synthesis is mainly regulated by sexual hormone. Androgen is in the center of mechanism of sebogenesis. In
recent studies, there are many other factors related in sebum synthesis. This article reviews current knowledge of these factors.
